Executive Summary
Banco BHD is financial intermediation entity supervised by the Superintendence of Banks of the Dominican Republic, founded on July 24, 1972 as Banco Hipotecario Dominicano under the direction of Samuel Conde, founding president of our financial entity; Antonio Haché, Manuel Tavares Espaillat, Sebastián Mera, Juan Bautista Vicini, Carlos Sully Fondeur and José Antonio Caro Álvarez, a group of businessmen with a great perspective on banking.
Throughout more than four decades of history, BHD have been pioneers in the local financial sector: from promoting changes in the national financial system by actively participating in the financial reform process in the Dominican Republic to becoming the first multiple bank in the country and being pioneers in the implementation of a corporate governance model. BHD’s avant-garde vision has led them to be the national financial entity with the greatest international support.
Banco BHD sought to modernize its IT infrastructure. Historically dependent on an on-premises data center, the bank faced limitations in scalability, operational efficiency, and speed of innovation. These challenges were particularly pronounced in maintaining their IT systems. To better meet customer demands and enable a future-ready IT environment, Banco BHD partnered with DFX5 to migrate its infrastructure to AWS cloud.
DFX5 has shown that they can always find a solution for every new challenge in our upcoming development/ migration. This flexibility and adaptability is very important in a digital world and we can confirm that when they say "We've got it", they mean it! Proposed solutions include a number of AWS solutions that address security and compliance issues—important aspect in a highly regulated financial world—without compromising what needs to be done. This setup is supported by robust
AWS foundations, including AWS Control Tower, IAM Identity Center, AWS Organizations, and centralized Security and SysOps domains.
