It’s crucial to establish automated services that can counteract an outage and facilitate a complete recovery. Numerous events such as flooding, earthquakes, fires, hardware failures, and even malicious attacks could cause unexpected infrastructure or application outages. To maintain business continuity and avoid losing any data or business due to the unavailability of services, it is imperative to proactively react and act when facing any  potential threats.

It is important to establish a reliable architecture that allows an infrastructure to recover automatically with appropriately defined metrics and escalation paths that are triggered when facing a threat. Escalation paths are pre-defined processes that ensure that an infrastructure and any data will be recovered within an acceptable timeframe. To accomplish this, DFX5 uses parameters such as Recovery Point Objective (RPO), which defines the time period in which a business will be able to recover from data loss.

The Recovery Time Objective (RTO) is the duration of time and a service level within which a business process must be restored after a disaster in order to avoid unacceptable consequences associated with a break in continuity.

It is a quick and easy way to shift from an existing disaster recovery strategy that uses physical or virtual data centers, private clouds or other public clouds to the AWS cloud. And if the business has already migrated to AWS, this method can further protect mission-critical workloads with cross-region disaster recovery.
